Could you spare on average an hour every month to be a director of the residents committee?
The Great Stony Park Residents Association Ltd (GSPRA Ltd) is a non-profit company setup purely to provide a legal structure to organise the maintenance of Great Stony Park estate.
GSPRA Ltd requires volunteers to act as directors of the company. Any home owner of GSP is entitled to volunteer and be appointed as a director of GSPRA Ltd. Appointment is a very informal affair, basically put your hand up and ask a neighbour to second you.
It can seem like a big ask...
But there really is not that much to it and for anybody still building a career it looks great on a CV!
Everyone has busy lives nowadays and can seem like there is no spare time to get involved with something like a residents association, we get it, we are all busy too and had exactly the same thoughts. However, if you have an opinion about anything to do with where you live, particularly if you think things could or should be done differently, then please, please, please come and get involved and lead the way. The more of us on the team, the more diverse our backgrounds, the more collective experience, the better GSP will be for everyone.
Being appointed as a director might sound more onerous than it actually is. Typically there are 6 meetings per year with the other directors to discuss things such as the grounds maintenance and other GSP related business.
There are no perks we're afraid, far from it. It is entirely voluntary and you even have to buy your own tea at each meeting. What there is though is a sense of having a say and taking positive action to shape the community you live in.
Your vote counts
No time to get involved, then voting is the next best thing. Please try to vote on everything you can and encourage your neighbours to do so also. The current average voter turnout is a little less than half. We all have opnions and it would be great to get yours.
Email Addresses Required
We are still missing at least 13 residents email addresses. It would be really useful to have these so please urge any resident you know that is not on the mailing list to email us to be included.
